IRIS / HONEY / INCENSE
Extrait de Parfum
Rosarium takes us to a cathedral, that of Santa Maria Assunta in Atri, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Let’s go inside this spiritual place where marble and ancient woods recall the history of the village and a beam of light enters from the rose window. The catedral is empty, each step makes a profound echo among the Romanesque vaults. From the very first steps, a smell of frankincense (olibanum) assails us but little by little, as we approach the altar, we are surprised by hints of opulent and dusty flowers. Rosarium is an extrait de parfum that plays between the sacred (incense in the head) and the profane (the warm, dusty and sensual scent of iris).
Rosarium
Rosarium is the latin name for church rose window, and it’s especially related to the rose window of the Cathedral of Atri, built in 1260 b.C.
Inspiration: flowers on the tabernacle.
"The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Atri, Abruzzo, Italy. The rose window that witnesses everything.Beneath it, weddings and funerals, love and death, murmurs and voices. In the square, imperfection lives, but once you cross its doors, everything changes—the spirit calms, and I inhale a clerical scent. The marble and ancient wood evoke stories, the sound of footsteps echoing through every wall. A blend of aromas surrounds me: incense and noble lilies. I hear the voices, the murmurs, and I forget the house of God; my mind dances between the perfect and the imperfect, the earthly nature of human beings and the celestial. Rosarium, in its essence, glides between the sacredness of incense and the profane floral sensuality of the iris".
